Thai writers often split a long list of items from their description, followed by the word "respectively". However, it is easier for readers if the item and its description are placed next to each other.
Here are four examples of this and ways to correct them.

Problem:
  • Ethylene and propylene production capacity will be increased by 200,000 tons and 100,000 tons to 800,000 tons and 400,000 tons in 2002.
Correction:
  • In 2002, the company plans to increase production capacity of ethylene from 600,000 tons to 800,000 tons and raise production capacity of propylene from 300,000 tons to 400,000 tons.
Problem:
  • Production capacity on High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Polypropylene (PP) will be raised by 100,000 tons, 30,000 tons and 60,000 tons in 2002.
Correction:
  • In 2002, the company plans to increase production capacity of high density polyethylene (HDPE) by 100,000 tons, low density polyethylene (LDPE) by 30,000 tons, and polypropylene (PP) by 60,000 tons.
Problem:
  • Cement business was severely hit by the contraction in construction sector, resulting in 12%, 18% and 10% decline in 1997, 1998 and 1999.
Correction:
  • The company's cement business was severely affected by the contraction in the construction sector, resulting in a 12% decline in 1997, an 18% drop in 1998, and a 10% reduction in 1999.
