What Do You Want To Say?

The first step before you begin to write a report should be to decide exactly what the point of your report will be. Then decide what points and information you will need to support the main point of your report.

A very useful and simple technique that I use to teach writing students is this: "Verbalise". Before you write a sentence, talk to yourself -- no, you're not crazy.

Speaking out the idea you plan to write will help clarify and simplify what you want to express. Also, the sentence will usually be more gramatically correct than if you don't "verbalise".

Try it, it works!
